Let’s be honest, the lockdown period has been extremely boring and the routines have become extremely repetitive. And with no cricket to watch, it’s more boring than ever.

So here is a list of things that you can do as a cricket fan during this lockdown period:

Revisit the Old Matches and Rivalries

Watching the older matches is one of the best pass times that you can have when you have nothing to do. I just love watching some of the older games to watch my retired heroes play.

Currently, on Star Sports, you can watch the older famous World Cup matches’ highlights on your T.V.

You can watch most of the highlights of the matches you want to see on Youtube.

Play-Cricket Cards

If you are one of the few lucky people to still have these cricket cards, then there is no better time to play cricket cards with your family.

Cricket Cards was a huge buzz back then, but now the demand for the cards hasn’t been the same the newer generations won’t get to see physical cards anymore. But this is the best time to start playing these cards all over again.

Binge Watch the ‘The Test’ on Amazon Prime Video

If you are a documentary lover or a series lover in general, then ‘The Test’ is a must-watch, which is available on Amazon Prime Video.

The Test has a rating of 9.1/10 on IMDb (quite deservingly).

The docu-series talks about the Australian Cricket Team’s comeback under Tim Paine’s captaincy and Justin Langer’s coaching after a huge ball-tampering scandal in 2018.

The series is very well put together, talking about the struggles and pains the team went through in the year and how the team bounced back despite all the odds and went on to the retain ‘The Ashes’ against England in 2019 in a fierce contest.

Check your older “Cricket Attax” Collection

I hope you guys remember about ‘Cricket Attax’. It had all the buzz 7-8 years back when every child used to have a cricket Attax card in their bag.

I remember when I started collecting Cricket Attax Cards as a child, I had a goal to collect every card which came out in that year. And way back in 2012, I collected every Cricket Attax Card (sounds very funny right now), but it was a huge deal for a crazy little cricket fan back then.

Check out your ‘Cricket Attax’ Cards Collection and relive your childhood moments and try to remember how you collected all those cards!

Learn about Fantasy Cricket

I have been playing Fantasy Cricket Games for a while now and they extremely interesting to play in. This Quarantine period, learn more about the games, how to win in them and how to get started in fantasy cricket.

Relive the old newspaper cuttings you had

Ahh! Here comes the real fun. I used to keep newspaper cuttings on almost every major moment cricket had at its disposal when I was a kid.

I used to order English Newspapers only because they printed better quality pictures and articles in their sports section.

When I checked my old drawers and boxes, I found them out and I was just surprised to see the number of photos I had piled up just from newspapers.

I had almost every big cricket moment covered in my collection in between the period of 2012-14.

Check yours too and see how you collected newspaper cuttings of your favorite players when you were a kid.

Listen to Cricket Podcasts

There are some pretty good podcasts but here are some of my top recommendations:

  1. World Cricket Show
  2. Following Cricket Podcast
  3. Wisden’s Weekly Podcast
  4. Edges and Sledges
  5. The Analyst Inside Cricket
Binge Watch your favorite Cricketer’s Interviews

Watch one of the best cricket talk shows in India “Breakfast With Champions” on Oaktree Sports on Youtube!

You can also watch “What the Duck” in Viu India on Youtube!

“Spicy Pitch”, Cricbuzz’s latest cricket talk show is also a great one to start with. They are coming up with new episodes regularly now, so go and watch that too!

All the Talk Shows are extremely entertaining and engaging to watch. It’s just an awesome pass time to see your heroes talk about their struggles and stories.

Watch “Roar of the Lion” on Hotstar

It is a mini-web series, talking about the comeback of the most followed IPL franchise of all time, Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 edition of the IPL after a two-year ban for being involved in the dirty 2013 spot-fixing scandal.

The M.S. Dhoni Led team went on to lift the trophy in 2018, to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad, courtesy of century by Shane Watson. The series includes five episodes, coming in two languages, Hindi and Tamil.

It’s completely worth a watch if you are a big M.S.Dhoni or CSK fan.

Play the EA Sports Cricket ’07

Now we are going back to something that every one of us in our childhood must have done at least once. Play EA Sports Cricket 2007.

I know they have been coming up with updates every year, with 2019 edition being the latest, but the 2007 version of the game brings out just different emotions from us.

Play-Cricket Quizzes on Paytm and Earn Money

Such a great thing right?

Here’s the deal.

You can earn money by answering questions about your favorite game! What’s better than that?

Read Books on Cricket and Cricketers

There are just so many great books that you can read about cricket and cricketers. And this lockdown period is the best time to read a book!

Here are my recommendations:

  1. A Century is Not Enough by Sourav Ganguly
  2. Playing it My Way by Sachin Tendulkar
  3. No Spin by Shane Warne

And a Bonus Tip!

EVERYONE STAY SAFE! It’s more important than ever to keep yourself clean and sanitized all the time. Keep washing your hands every 1-2 hours for 20 seconds and follow social distancing instructions also and follow all the necessary precautions to prevent COVID-19.
