But in international cricket, he was not the same cricketer that everyone was talking about as he was not able to score runs consistently.
His first half of the career was quite miserable but the greatest highlight of his career came in 2013 when he was made Captain of Mumbai Indians for IPL 2013 and he blossomed!!
He led Mumbai Indians to their maiden IPL Trophy and since that there has been no looking back.
He was also selected back into the Indian ODI side but the time he was given an opportunity to open the batting in Champions Trophy which proved to be the turning point of his career. He batted like the Rohit Sharma that everyone was talking about at the start of his career!!
Since then he has been in the list of top leading run-scorers almost every single year (only second to Virat Kohli for India) and currently is the leading run-getter in the history of T20I cricket.
From then he lead his IPL franchise to a record Four IPL Trophies and now it’s time for him to contribute as much as possible for India in World cup 2019 to lift the trophy!!
