Bangladesh Cricket has gone from strength to strength in the last 4-5 years in international cricket and has continued to impress everyone with their performances in big tournaments.

How are they faring in world cup 2019? Let’s first see their strengths and weaknesses and then we will find out, how far they will go in this world cup.

This is a team which has consistently performed well in the various tournaments that they have played in. In my opinion, they are the second best Asian team after India in International cricket.

Strengths:
1. Good Experienced Core:
Bangladesh has maintained a strong experienced core which is the nucleus of the team. They are Shakib Al-Hasan, Musfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Masrafe Mortaza, Rubel Hossain, and Mahmudullah.

These players are the pillars of the Bangladesh Team. Most of these players have already played two to three 50-over world cups and several ICC Tournaments. So, If they fire, as a result of that the team also fires!!

The batting of Bangladesh is a strength I think for them. It’s just that, how they utilize players like Mahmudullah and Shakib is what matters. If they play Mahmudullah up the order, they can extract a lot more from him come world cup 2019.

Their Captain Masrafe Mortaza is another extremely competitive individual who has controlled and leads the team extremely well over the years.

Weaknesses:
1. Lack of Finishers:
Bangladesh’s batting order looks like a top-heavy side. Mahmudullah is the only recognized finisher in the side. If he performs well for Bangladesh, the batting will look extremely complete and less top heavy.

Mosaddek Hossain has done well for them in a few games recently but will he be able to do it consistently, we shall find out !!

2. Death Bowling:
They have Mustafizur, but I don’t think they have the best death bowling line-up which can choke the runs at the end. Masrafe finishes his quota of overs in the first 40 overs and hardly bowls at the death.

Rubel has to do well and gel together with Mustafizur in the death overs. In flat pitches of England, if Bangladesh can do well in the death overs and contain runs against top sides, they will have a real chance at winning some big matches.

Team’s X-FACTOR?
This team has a few really experienced players and I will be picking my X-Factor from one of that strong core.

For me, Shakib-Al-Hasan is the X-Factor of the Bangladesh unit. He is a 3-Dimensional player, a genuine all-rounder that every team needs. And if the fires with both bat and ball, Bangladesh will be a serious threat for the other teams in world cup 2019.

Expected Playing XI:
1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Soumya Sarkar
3. Shabbir Rahman
4. Shakib-Al-Hasan
5. Mahmudullah
6. Musfiqur Rahim
7. Mosaddek Hossain
8. Masrafe Mortaza
9. Mehidy Hasan
10. Mustafizur Rahman
11. Rubel Hossain

This team looks really potent with a lot of bowling options and is also a team that bats down deep.

Bench:
12. Liton Das
13. Mohammad Mithun
14. Abu Jayed
15. Mohammad Saifuddin

Where will they finish in world cup 2019?
Bangladesh Team look really good on paper and are lead by a really good captain (Masrafe Mortaza). But are they capable of getting into the semi-finals?

I think yes, they are capable of getting into the semi-finals. I am not sure if they will make it, but Bangladesh has the game to get into the semi-finals.

They will win games against top teams if they play good cricket as a group. They are not the underdogs anymore, they are the front runners now.
